Unraveling Perfectionism

When I started my teaching career, I wanted everything to be perfect. I wanted to be perfect because that meant I was my best- and that’s what my students deserved. So I kept grabbing for anything and everything outside of me to make me better while not taking the time to acknowledge the perfection I already achieved because I was me. It’s that simple… and that complex. Forget about the titles, and the boxes we put on ourselves- and just sit with being you. Feel the limitless perfection flow within you. How perfectly constructed your body is to keep you alive at all moments of the day. How you continue to rejuvenate without consciously processing it. How your mind organizes thoughts and memories perfectly for you. You are here for a grand reason. If you are reading this, then you have a heart that beams brighter when you work with children. Welcome. It’s an honor to meet with another on this path for our present and our future.

I shifted away from teaching in the classroom and stepped onto a path of self-discovery and healing. Through years of work I have begun to look at my perfectionism. Through my work with Mini Me Yoga I have been able to see how children take to perfectionism, or lack thereof I should say. Innately, children want to express themselves- any way, any how. Somewhere during our life, us adults learned that that was not ok- that it wasn’t safe to do so. Mini Me Yoga provides a safe container for children and us adults to come out and play. For us to tap into our intuition, do the yoga pose as best works for our body, and color the mandala that feel best for us. It builds trust- within ourselves and with those around us, that they are doing what is best for them. It relieves the all about me pressure and allows us to see ourselves, in all our joyful beauty, and each person around us. And my favorite part, it reminds me that my heart is strong and shifts the world I live in. Mini Me Yoga is a building ground for a happier day, that I am grateful to have in my life and welcome every parent and educator to contact info@minimeyoga.com today to learn how you can bring this strong foundation for joy and gratitude to your home and classroom.
