L’Ecole Des Enfants

This week, we have an exciting update from our guest blogger Maria Johansson- founder and president of L’Ecole Des Enfants, Inc- who is building a Waldorf inspired school in war torn Côte d’Ivoire.

The construction of our kindergarten is progressing and we will open our first class September 10th.

Two teachers from Côte d’Ivoire have been hired that will attend their first Rudolf Steiner training module in Kenya two first weeks in August. They will also remain in Kenya for an extra week to observe an operating Steiner kindergarten and receive valuable time together with the teachers at the Mbagathi Steiner school to return back to Côte d’Ivoire, Bouaké with a much deeper level of understanding of the threefold human, the rhythm of the day at a Waldorf school and the role of a teacher according to Steiner’s anthroposophy.

As our teachers return back to Côte d’Ivoire, Shannon Honigblum- Waldorf education consultant- will arrive to Bouaké, working in depth with our teachers in building the year plan along with mentoring our teachers on the in breath and out breath rhythm of the day to day operation of our kindergarten and starting the community development with the parents. Shannon will be on site for a month in August and September and she already started the mentoring in June over regular calls with our teachers.

What we urgently need help with is sponsorship of the children coming from families living below the poverty line. If YOU want to sponsor a child for the first school year click this link and set up a recurring donation of $100 / month for a year or make a one time donation of $1.200 and we will connect you with a child and his/her family through emails and videos. The sponsorship of the children receiving an education is a tremendous support https://secure.qgiv.com/for/ldei/mobile.

About Maria Johansson

Maria Johansson grew up on the countryside in Sweden. She holds a MEng in robotic surgery, an Executive MBA and has 12 years of global management experience within a multinational energy company. She has lived in eight countries, speaks seven languages and really considers herself a citizen of the world. It was during her MBA that she really paused and said “there has to be more to life than this” and she started her path as a healer in 2013. She has led meditation and yoga classes in many countries. Her flame burns strong for the healing modalities in the lineage of King Salomon as she can see how they transform lives where individuals shift out of stress, depression and lack of motivation into finding their joy and sense of purpose in life. What sparked her passion for Waldorf education is the link with Rudolf Steiner who was also a high initiate in the lineage of King Salomon and she has a deep sense of “turning the tides” with his anthroposophy. This is why the schools of L’Ecole Des Enfants are not merely “just another school”. Our vision is to empower the children to be free and take responsibility for themselves, their communities and the planet.
